Adjunct Lab Instructor

Job Summary

Provide high-quality skills instruction and scenario facilitation during live lab sessions, supporting the school's mission and values to outside agencies. Deliver live skills and scenario instruction while enforcing student compliance with policies alongside primary instructors. Grade students on psychomotor and affective abilities per the syllabus, follow the scheduled lab plan, and report progress during debriefs. Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct, especially when traveling. Complete required orientation modules and annual training, and occasionally assist in training new adjunct instructors.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years in a prehospital system at the level instructing
  • The instructor must complete the School of EMS Instructor Orientation
  • Part 1: Completed prior to instructing students
  • Part 2: Complete within 30 days of hire
  • Part 3: Complete online module within 30 days of hire
  • Should complete the entire onboarding process including card course instructor within 6 months of employment
  • State paramedic or EMT license in good standing, depending on the level instructing
  • Must exhibit the ability to read, analyze, and interpret education-related material
  • Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Must have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures as they relate to teaching certain topics within the EMS curriculum
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in different formats
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in the use of audio-visual equipment
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Talk or hear
  • Frequently required to stand and sit
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
