Job Summary
Adjunct instructors will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science, Policy & Sustainability at Southern Oregon University. Candidates must be knowledgeable in their discipline, capable of clearly explaining concepts and procedures, and familiar with appropriate equipment for laboratory settings. A Master’s or terminal degree in the related field is required for an initial appointment. Preferred candidates will have teaching experience and a commitment to student engagement and diversity in education.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or terminal degree in the discipline taught or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in the discipline taught, plus equivalency of Master’s degree in professional experience
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in the discipline taught or a related field (preferred for Adjunct Instructor)
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
- Active participation in the life of the institution
- Commitment to student learning, retention, support, and assessment (preferred for Adjunct Instructor)
- Work experience equating to one-academic year of full-time college teaching (preferred for Adjunct Assistant Professor)
- Professional experience in the field related to teaching assignment
