Job Summary
Adjunct faculty position for RADS 135 Time Series Forecasting and Operational Analytics in Brandeis University’s online MS program. Responsibilities include course logistics and timely rollout of content, instructor presence via live introductory sessions and active online discourse, and transparent rubric-based grading with student consultation. Requirements include an advanced degree in Statistics, OR, Data Science or related field; professional forecasting experience applied to operational or sustainability contexts; strong time-series forecasting expertise (including ARIMA/Prophet and modern ML approaches); at least 1 year of online or asynchronous teaching experience and excellent online communication skills. Preferred: knowledge of Moodle LMS and digital authoring tools (e.g., H5P); understanding of global learner personas and culturally responsive pedagogy. The role is part-time and aligns with Brandeis’s online, asynchronous course delivery. Compensation details are disclosed in the posting. The appointment resides in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D) in Statistics, Operational Research, Data Science or a related field
- Professional experience applying forecasting methods to operational demands, planning, or in sustainability contexts
- Expertise in time series analysis and forecasting under uncertainty, including ARMIA and modern machine learning approach
- At least 1 year of teaching or training experience (preferably online/asynchronous)
- Experience with online instruction
- Excellent communication and teaching skills in an online learning environment
