Job Summary

Adjunct Faculty member for RHIN 131 Regulatory, Privacy, and Ethics: Protecting Health Data in Brandeis University’s Online Health Informatics Program. The 3‐credit asynchronous online course runs Fall-1 2026 for the Master of Science in Health Informatics and covers HIPAA, GDPR, and other privacy/regulatory frameworks governing health information. Core responsibilities include Course Logistics and Facilitation (organizing timely rollout of content, weekly announcements, and platform use); Instructor Presence and Engagement (live introductory session, online discourse, and student consultations); Individual Feedback and Grading (rubric-based evaluations within a standard weekly timeframe); and Professional Conduct/Standards (academic integrity, netiquette, accessibility and technical visibility). Qualifications require an advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a relevant field, at least 5 years of healthcare risk/compliance/health information management experience, knowledge of healthcare data laws, and at least 1 year of online teaching experience with strong online communication skills. Preferred: certifications in healthcare privacy and compliance (e.g., CIPM, CHPS); familiarity with Moodle LMS and digital authoring tools; graduate-level online teaching experience; knowledge of diverse learner personas and culturally responsive pedagogy.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Health Information Management, Bioethics, Health Policy, Juris Doctor (JD) or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in risk management, compliance or health information management in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations that impact healthcare data
  • At least 1 year of teaching or training experience (preferably online/asynchronous)
  • Experience with online instruction
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills in an online learning environment
