Job Summary
Adjunct Faculty for Undergraduate Nursing (OB/Peds) – campus-based instruction focused on delivering and assessing nursing coursework in alignment with South University’s model. Responsibilities include designing and delivering instruction, relating professional experience to student learning, promoting student success, managing the educational process, outreach to at-risk/absent students, maintaining records and enforcing academic policies, participating in faculty development, and supporting campus activities such as orientation and graduation. Requires a terminal degree for graduate programs or a master’s degree for undergraduate programs, with the appropriate concentration and minimum graduate study hours, plus teaching experience and applicable licensure/certification. Strong communication, time management, and proficiency with learning management systems are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the discipline to be taught, with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline)
- For undergraduate programs, a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the discipline to be taught, with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline) is required
- At least six months of teaching experience at another post-secondary education institution (preferred)
- Active, valid, and unencumbered state licensure or certification as applicable to the discipline
- Membership in a professional association tied to the area of instruction (preferred)
- Practical experience in the discipline of the program and knowledge of current best practices (in the field)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to build successful relationships with students and faculty
- Excellent time management and attention to detail. Computer-based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills) and experience with computerized learning management systems
