Job Summary
Adjunct Faculty Pool for the Division of Health Science Professions at South Texas College. Faculty are expected to demonstrate subject-matter mastery and maintain currency through professional development, while planning and delivering instruction that maximizes student learning. Responsibilities include employing effective teaching strategies, adapting methods to student needs, evaluating student learning, maintaining accurate records, preparing syllabi and course outlines, coordinating with program goals, and supporting college policies. Assigned disciplines include nursing (A.D.N./B.S.N.), diagnostic medical sonography, radiologic technology, patient care technician, occupational and physical therapy assistant, respiratory therapy, vocational nursing, pharmacy technology, health administrative services, healthcare college success, dental hygiene, and emergency medical services. Qualifications require appropriate academic preparation (notably an associate degree), credentialing per program/discipline, and the ability to communicate clearly, organize effectively, and contribute to curriculum development and student success. Faculty may teach at multiple campus locations and must meet deadlines for grade rosters and reporting; flexibility for time and site assignments is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited institution
- 3 years non-teaching related work experience in the teaching discipline required
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, class assignments and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information to students and respond to questions from individuals as well as groups of students and chairs/directors
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Commitment to the community college philosophy of education
