Job Summary
Teach Diction for Singers (English and Italian) and Applied Voice Lessons for music majors and engaged learners. Deliver weekly one-on-one lessons, prepare students for juries, recitals, and auditions, and participate in department performances. Coordinate with collaborative pianist faculty and ensemble directors; mentor students on vocal technique, healthy voice practices, and repertoire. Follow required syllabi, use designated textbooks, meet scheduled classes, state course outcomes and assessment criteria, document grades by deadlines, and comply with ADA/FERPA policies. Maintain an engaging, inclusive classroom environment and effectively use instructional technology. Evening commitments for performances, grading, or class preparation may be required. Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and contribute to a diverse student population and faculty team.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Music - Vocal Performance or comparable degree from an accredited institution required.
- Successful applied voice teaching experience to students at varying stages of vocal development is required.
- Experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds and with varying academic skills.
- Participation in professional development and/or continuous improvement activities in order to remain current in the field.
- Teaching experience at a community college preferred.
