Job Summary
Deliver high-quality, fully online asynchronous instruction to enlisted Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen through the USNCC Blackboard Learning Management System. Prepare supplemental materials for Dean approval, facilitate engaging discussions, and provide detailed written feedback on assignments and projects. Monitor student progress, identify at-risk learners, and maintain weekly virtual office hours to support academic success. Submit grades, documentation, and end-of-course reports within prescribed deadlines while participating in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Authorization to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship
- Relevant military experience or similar experience in government, and/or working with military personnel
- Experience teaching at the collegiate level, in an online learning environment using Learning Management Systems (Blackboard or similar LMS)
- A Master's degree (Doctorate preferred) in a relevant discipline
- A minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline
- Previous college-level teaching experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Specific, high-level professional experience that is directly relevant to the course's subject matter in a military or related setting, such as prior military service or experience, particularly in positions of service-wide prominence, and when the experience results in renowned expertise that is aligned with the learning outcomes of the course
- Demonstrated teaching experience in an online modality for working adults; must include experience teaching one semester-equivalent course specifically in an online higher education environment at an accredited college or university demonstrating strong student and/or peer evaluation
- Demonstrated understanding of Andragogy and Adult Learning Theory
- Significant and substantive relevant experience in a military or related setting that makes you uniquely or substantively qualified to teach the specific subject area. This will typically include at least 10-15 years of direct field experience, with at least five of those years at a senior leadership level, in the specific course area being taught
Desired Qualifications
- Military service or civilian Department of Defense experience, particularly Department of the Navy, US Navy, US Marine Corps, or US Coast Guard
- Experience working with military personnel
- Extensive subject matter expertise in national security, military operations, leadership, history, government, public policy, or related disciplines
