Job Summary
Deliver high-quality, fully online asynchronous instruction to enlisted Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen through the USNCC Blackboard Learning Management System. Prepare supplemental materials for Dean approval, facilitate engaging discussions, and grade assignments using established rubrics while providing detailed written feedback. Monitor student progress, maintain weekly virtual office hours, and submit end-of-course reports summarizing performance. Participate in faculty meetings and collaborate with Course Leads and Academic Affairs to support mission readiness and academic excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Authorization to permanently work in the United States without sponsorship
- Relevant military experience or similar experience in government, and/or working with military personnel
- Experience teaching at the collegiate level, in an online learning environment using Learning Management Systems (Blackboard or similar LMS)
- A Master's degree (Doctorate preferred) in a relevant discipline
- A minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline
- Previous college-level teaching experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Specific, high-level professional experience that is directly relevant to the course's subject matter in a military or related setting
- Demonstrated teaching experience in an online modality for working adults
- Demonstrated understanding of Andragogy and Adult Learning Theory
- Significant and substantive relevant experience in a military or related setting that makes you uniquely or substantively qualified to teach the specific subject area, including at least 10-15 years of direct field experience, with at least five of those years at a senior leadership level, in the specific course area being taught
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in military ethics, philosophy, leadership, law (post JD degree, such as, LLM in military law), U.S. history, and political science
- Prior experience teaching introductory courses in law of warfare, international law, military ethics, leadership, organizational behavior, law of the sea and freedom of navigation, and security studies
- Military service or civilian Department of Defense experience, particularly Department of the Navy, US Navy, US Marine Corps, or US Coast Guard
- Extensive subject matter expertise in national security, military operations, leadership, history, government, public policy, or related disciplines
