Job Summary

The Institute for Sustainable Practice is looking for eligible scholars and practitioners to teach the 'Sustainable and Resilient Cities' graduate course in Spring 2026. Candidates will customize and create graduate-level course content, review existing materials from the Canvas LMS, and conduct engaging lectures using various teaching formats including in-person and online. Candidates must hold a relevant master's degree or terminal degree and have a minimum of ten years of related experience. Strong communication skills and familiarity with educational technologies are essential for this role.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of science in urban and regional planning, urban studies, engineering, master of business administration, or other relevant master's degrees approved by the Institute
  • Terminal degree (JD or PhD) from a relevant sub-discipline focusing on urban sustainability and resilience
  • Ten or more years’ experience in applied practice, business, and/or policy of urban design, construction, development, re-development, building science, community and building energy management, landscape systems, and local/regional planning, with a focus on sustainability and resilience

Desired Qualifications

  • Sustainability and resilience certification
  • Evidence of related third-party coursework (e.g., American Institute of Certified Planners, LEED GA/AP, Sustainable Sites, Certified Energy Manager, Certified Climate Change Professional, Certified GIS Professional)
  • Professional experience in applying sustainability and resilience in urban contexts
  • Experience teaching, presenting, managing, or training urban practitioners or graduate students
  • Experience in live lecture and online teaching
  • Experience in sustainability research
  • Applied urban planning and policy expertise
