Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •University degree/ diploma in Social Work/ Social Service and/ or Health related field
• •Addiction Studies certification
• •Professional registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
• •Current CPR and First Aid certification
• •ASIST training or equivalent
• •CPI training or equivalent
• •At least 5 years of relevant experience
• •Experience in: Individual, family, and group counselling
• •Experience in: Community development and networking
• •Experience in: Record keeping and file management
• •Advanced life skills counselling
• •Supportive counselling
• •Crisis intervention
• •Advocacy
• •Group work
• •Managing clients with complex needs in varying stages of change
• •Strong communication and active listening
• •Ability to effectively present complex clinical information in writing and verbally
• •Ability to read and understand documentation such as operating instructions, procedures manuals and complex clinical reports
• •Broad knowledge of addictions treatments and explanatory theories
• •Broad knowledge of mental illness
• •Broad knowledge of community resources
• •Ability to: function independently
• •Ability to: maintain effective working relationships with others
• •Ability to: work effectively under pressure or deadlines
• •Ability to: work outside regular office hours as required
• •Ability to: use good judgement to make sound decisions
• •Interpersonal skills that require an attention to detail
• •Interpersonal skills that require rapport building with clients
• •Experienced sense and awareness of ethical boundaries
• •Experienced sense and awareness of clinical reporting obligations
• •Ability to successfully deliver culturally responsive services
• •Cultural knowledge of key populations in Halton Region that will be served to address disparities in specific services
• •Ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races
• •Knowledge of the history of discrimination in America, particularly as it relates to race and racism, and how this history has led to disparities experienced by marginalized communities such as BIPOC, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ communities, and others
• •Active time management and scheduling
• •Proficiency with computer programs and electronic database(s)
• •Able to fulfill all duties and work hours from a remote/home location, whenever required
• •Various physical actions of mobility are required (minimal lifting, sitting for periods of time, moderate wrist motions)
• •Regular Saturdays (10:00-6:00)
• •rotating shifts; days (8:30-4:30), evenings (12:00/1:00-8:00/9:00-tbd)
• •hybrid (hospital; traveling across Halton Region may be required; home office)
• •Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals

Desired Qualifications

• •Professional registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers an asset
• •Knowledge of French language an asset
