Addiction Medicine - Recovery Support Centre & Opioid Recovery Program

Job Summary

Provide comprehensive outpatient Addiction Medicine assessments, diagnoses, and ongoing management, including Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) and evidence-based pharmacologic therapies. Develop individualized treatment plans, establish case formulations, and collaborate with patients, families, and an interdisciplinary team comprising nursing, social work, and counseling professionals. Monitor patient progress, facilitate referrals to community supports, and participate in interdisciplinary case discussions and quality improvement initiatives. Offer trauma-informed, culturally safe, recovery-oriented care that promotes patient autonomy. Provide occasional clinical support to the Springhill Recovery Support Centre and the Inpatient Withdrawal Management Unit as operationally required.

Required Qualifications

  • Current medical license issued by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) or eligibility for licensure
  • Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Active medical staff privileges with Nova Scotia Health
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification in Addiction Medicine through the College of Family Physicians of Canada or another recognized certifying body
  • Experience in Addiction Medicine, Opioid Agonist Treatment, or substance use care
