Job Summary
Conduct intake, screening, assessment, and treatment planning for individuals experiencing homelessness while providing one-on-one and group counselling using a strengths-based wellness approach. Ensure clients' basic needs are met by supplying food, showers, hygiene, and rest, then facilitate rapid connections to housing stability and transitional supportive living. Navigate local services, assist with income applications, and collaborate with justice supports for those involved with the criminal justice system. Maintain accurate client records, provide 24/7 on-site support, and offer transportation assistance including bus passes. Deliver integrated care plans covering acute and primary care, mental health, and addictions while guiding clients toward employment and employability strategies.
Required Qualifications
- Completed post-secondary education in a mental health or addictions related field
- Valid Driver's License: minimum G2 class required
- Transportation of clients in personal vehicle required
- two million-dollar ($2 000 000.00) liability insurance required
- Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
- Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
Desired Qualifications
- Current certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), ASIST Suicide Intervention, and/or Standard First Aid
- Experience working with individuals with addictions or problematic substance use
- Experience working with individuals with no fixed address
- Residential/community housing experience and familiarity with the Residential Tenancies Act
- Experience in crisis intervention/management and crisis resolution
- Bilingual in both official languages
