Job Summary
Develop and implement individualized physical education programs for students with disabilities, adapting traditional activities to meet specific needs. Utilize assessment, data collection, and progress monitoring to inform instruction and track motor and social performance. Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to address individual needs while maintaining detailed records of student progress. Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a comprehensive educational approach, and advocate for students within the system. Implement safety protocols to ensure a secure learning environment. Stay current with professional developments in adapted physical education.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pupil Services License/Certificate issued by the Ohio Department of Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Strong knowledge of physical education principles and practices
- Adapted Physical Education endorsement
- Effective organizational and record-keeping skills
- Competence in collaboration and teamwork
- Basic understanding of legal requirements and regulations related to special education
- Documentation of a clear criminal record
- Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies
- Strong understanding of different types of disabilities and their impact on physical activity
- Knowledge of adaptive physical education best practices
