Job Summary
Assistant District Attorney in the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau (VCEB) within the Bronx District Attorney’s Office Investigations Division. Responsibilities include conducting investigations, organizing and presenting grand jury presentations, prosecuting cases arising from investigations (discovery obligations, drafting motions and responses), engaging in plea negotiations, conducting hearings and trials, analyzing trends in gang violence, collaborating with the Crime Strategies Bureau and other agencies, and supporting related duties. Availability required nights, weekends and holidays. Requires Juris Doctorate and New York Bar in good standing, NY residency, and substantial experience with long-term criminal investigations, informants, search warrants, and grand jury work.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree and admission to New York State Bar in Good Standing required
- US Citizenship and New York State residency are required as of the first day of employment
- 3+ years of experience performing long-term criminal investigations
- Experience in the cultivation and use of confidential informants and cooperating witnesses
- Experience drafting and reviewing applications for search warrants (including 2703(d) orders)
- Significant grand jury experience
- Trial experience in violent crime, gang prosecutions, gun violence, complex conspiracies and criminal enterprises
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative and collegial manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Knowledge of NYS courts and the criminal justice system
- Ability to work independently and with internal and external stakeholders
