Acute Patient Access Services Representative

Job Summary
As the first point of contact for patients entering care, you will greet patients, verify insurance, and handle registration with an emphasis on accuracy, security, and compliance. You will collect patient financial liability and provide financial counseling when needed, collaborating with clinical teams to optimize patient flow and satisfaction. You’ll use multiple system applications to streamline intake, verify benefits and eligibility, and document thoroughly to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials. This role requires strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills in a high-volume hospital environment, with responsibilities spanning inpatient, obstetrics, emergency, and outpatient services as needed. Training includes new hire orientation and PAS-specific training, with a standard daytime schedule (mon-fri 830am-5pm) and potential on-call/holiday coverage.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required
- Customer service skills or knowledge of patient financial services, financial, collecting services or insurance industry experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with common office software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases) and typing
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (for certain behavioral health settings) at time of hire
- Arizona Criminal History Affidavit at hire
- Knowledge of medical terminology or healthcare systems (preferred qualifications)
- Associate’s degree preferred (CRCR/CHAA certifications and related education are a plus)
