Job Summary
Provide and coordinate clinically competent care for assigned patients in acute inpatient services, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Perform ongoing data collection and analysis pre-, during, and post-treatment to adjust treatment plans, while administering medications and managing intradialytic transfusions. Direct patient care for all modality-specific procedures, collaborate with the health team on status changes, and educate patients and families on learning needs. Initiate emergency responses and communicate with providers and facility personnel to ensure continuity of care. Complete 12 weeks of structured training with a preceptor, rotate weekends and holidays, and potentially assist in outpatient facilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in all states in which he or she is employed
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs
- Must be able to perform essential functions in other locations
- Must be able to work night, weekend, holiday or as defined by individual program needs
- Must be able to travel to training/meeting sites and between assigned facilities
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday on-call
- Must be able to work weekend call rotation
- Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace
Desired Qualifications
- 12 months experience as a Registered Nurse (preferred)
- 6 months experience in acute dialysis as a RN (preferred)
- Hemodialysis and/or ICU experience (preferred)
- Less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as an RN (entry level designation)
