Job Summary
Assess, plan, and document pre-, during-, and post-treatment patient data for assigned dialysis patients while adjusting treatment plans and notifying the medical team. Provide direct, safe, and effective patient care for all modality-specific procedures, including administering medications and managing intradialytic transfusions. Collaborate with direct care staff, physicians, and contracted providers to ensure continuity of care, initiate emergency responses, and educate patients and families on learning needs. Participate in staff training, orientation, and quality improvement activities as part of the kidney disease health care team. Requires 9 months of RN experience with 6 months in acute dialysis, plus on-call rotation and travel between facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Current appropriate state licensure
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
- Must meet the practice requirements in all states in which he or she is employed
- Minimum 9 months experience as a Registered Nurse
- Must have a minimum of 9 months experience as a RN
- 6 months experience in acute dialysis as a RN
- Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience as an RN
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to bend over
- Must be able to move machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs
- Must be able to perform essential functions of this position in other locations
- Must be available for on-call rotation
- Must be available for night shifts
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for holiday shifts
- Must be able to travel to training/meeting sites and between assigned facilities
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Desired Qualifications
- 12 months (preferred) experience as a Registered Nurse
- 6 months acute dialysis experience (preferred)
- Hemodialysis and/or ICU experience (preferred)
