Job Summary
As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care in White Plains, NY, you will be an integral part of a cross-functional team providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients with renal failure under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse. Responsibilities include direct patient care during dialysis (gathering stats, initiating and monitoring treatment, terminating treatment, and collecting blood samples), preparing machines for hemodialysis, cleaning and disinfecting equipment, and conducting safety checks. You will follow safety protocols and company policies, participate in staff meetings and continuing education, and ensure quality and regulatory compliance. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, willingness to work in healthcare, possible prior healthcare experience in dialysis/phlebotomy/CNA, ability to mix acids and bicarbonate as per protocol, ability to distinguish primary colors, successful completion of USRC training within 8 weeks, CPR within 90 days, and certification as a PCT within 18 months.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director, including demonstrated competency; this includes successful completion of USRC training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis within 8 weeks of hire
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state
- Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained through a state certification program or national commercially available certification program within 18 months of hire date and maintained in good standing thereafter
- Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients
- Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus
- Must be comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors
