Job Summary
Patient Care Technician (PCT) at US Renal Care performing dialysis-related patient care under RN/Charge Nurse supervision. Responsibilities include preparing and operating dialysis machines, gathering patient stats before/after treatment, initiating and terminating treatment, monitoring patients, collecting blood samples per physician orders, cleaning/disinfecting machines, conducting safety checks, and logging quality control results. Must complete USRC training within 8 weeks, obtain CPR within 90 days, and pursue PCT certification within 18 months. Requires high school diploma or equivalent; healthcare interest and experience in dialysis/phlebotomy/CNA is a plus. Adheres to safety protocols, PPE, and state/federal regulations; participates in required meetings and continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Desire to work in healthcare and care for patients.
- Previous healthcare experience in dialysis, phlebotomy, or as a CNA is a plus.
- Must be comfortable mixing acids and bicarbonate according to protocol.
- Ability to distinguish all primary colors.
- Successful completion of USRC training program approved by the Medical Director, including demonstrated competency; this includes successful completion of USRC training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis within 8 weeks of hire.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire or as required by the state.
- Patient Care Technician certification must be obtained through a state certification program or national commercially available certification program within 18 months of hire date and maintained in good standing thereafter. Specific state requirements may be applicable and required.
