Job Summary
Acute Care Registered Nurse position offering full-time, day shift in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry-focused unit. The RN provides safe, effective, and culturally competent care to patients with acute medical and surgical conditions, leads within a nursing team, communicates with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams, and participates in discharge planning. Essential duties include initial assessments and ongoing reassessments, developing and implementing outcome-based care plans, coordinating with Case Management and Social Work, managing telemetry when applicable, ensuring medication safety, and maintaining age-appropriate care. Requires current Iowa RN license (Illinois license acceptable with a plan to obtain the other state within 12 months), BLS, and ACLS if telemetry is used. BSN preferred; ADN required. Must meet organizational safety, infection control, and policy standards and participate in continuous improvement and education activities.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Iowa RN license (MercyOne Genesis - current RN license in either Iowa or Illinois required at time of hire; secondary license in other state within 12 months)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required if telemetry is available
- Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire
- High language and high math and critical thinking ability
- Basic computer skills
