Job Summary
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant role in Thoracic Cardiac Vascular Surgical ICU at Ochsner Health. Works in a collaborative model with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff to provide medical and nursing care, emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, education of residents and medical students, discharge planning, and ongoing quality and safety initiatives. Requires a Master’s degree in Nursing, an applicable Bachelor’s degree for PA practice, APRN and PA licenses in the state of practice, BCLS/ACLS certifications, and prescriptive authority eligibility. Must be capable of traveling between facilities and supporting a flexible schedule including on-call coverage. Equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program
- Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice
- Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified for Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing
- License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice, NCCPA Certified, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
- Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners
