Job Summary
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant needed for Plastic Surgery in Augusta, GA to provide patient-centered care in ambulatory and inpatient settings. Responsibilities include managing weekly clinics as a stand-alone provider, examining patients to determine surgical needs, coordinating preoperative planning with physicians, obtaining informed consent, scheduling surgeries with a pool of surgeons, performing postoperative visits, and performing ambulatory procedures (wound care, cosmetic and reconstructive excisions). Also responsible for first assisting in the operating room and supporting education materials and clinic programs for the plastics clinic; requires credentialing and BLS.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing (for Nurse Practitioner) or PA program graduate (NCCPA certified)
- ANCC certification or state advanced practice nursing license (for NP)
- BLS certification (AHA)
- Fully credentialed by credentialing office
- Examined patients to determine need for surgery; chart review and planning with physician lead
- First assist in the operating room; postoperative visits for select patients
- Ambulatory procedures including wound care, cosmetics, and excisional biopsies
- Preoperative education and informed consent; coordination with schedulers and RNs
- Commitment to continuing medical education and re-certification as required
