Job Summary
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support inpatient General Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure (Galter 10) with rotating attendings, providing care to patients with complex heart failure including VADs; schedule 4x10 hour shifts with rotating weekends/holidays, no nights or on-call; direct clinical care, prescriptive authority, orders and interpretation of tests, patient and family education, mentorship of graduate students, and active participation in quality improvement and/or research; collaboration with physicians and other health professionals, focus on patients’ health outcomes, and engagement in ongoing education and staff development.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Acute care certification required for APRNs
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board
- Once licensed may apply for a controlled substance license and DEA number
- Privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO)
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred as specified by department
