Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status by taking histories and performing physical examinations in the Cardiac Care Stepdown Unit. Provide direct clinical care to post-interventional patients and those with advanced heart failure, prescribing medications, ordering tests, and interpreting results. Collaborate closely with attending physicians and fellows to manage patient care, ensure optimal recovery, and develop educational systems for patients, families, and staff. Mentor graduate students, participate in quality improvement and research initiatives, and serve as a consultant to other disciplines. Maintain certifications including ACLS and BLS, and advocate for patients and the community while exemplifying a professional image.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Acute care certification
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board
- Privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO)
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
