Job Summary

Conduct direct patient care in the ICU Medical unit under RN supervision, including rounding, vital sign monitoring, and reporting changes in patient condition. Perform bedside procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and telemetry rhythm monitoring while assisting with personal hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. Accurately document inputs, outputs, and assessments in electronic health records. Monitor and manage life-threatening conditions with initial response, ensuring compliance with harm prevention measures like VAP Bundles and turning protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in a nursing or other medical education program
  • Completion of a Patient Care Technician program that requires successful completion of a clinical rotation
  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare-related field of study with at least previous exposure to the acute care environment
  • Completion of academic Healthcare Technician program that requires a minimum of 40 clinical hours
  • Completion of EMT-Advanced or Paramedic course
  • One (1) year of direct patient care experience
  • National Certification as a Patient Care Technician
  • Registered PCT-AC
  • Basic Life Support Heart saver certification

Desired Qualifications

  • Completion of a cardiac care course or completion of such a course within two months of hire
