Job Summary

Develop pricing, reserving, and predictive models to differentiate loss costs and risk across the insurance portfolio. Execute actuarial analyses for underwriting, claims, and enterprise strategy while collaborating with shared services to support operational efficiency. Build and validate statistical models such as GLMs, conduct industry studies on competitors, and communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders. Support quarterly IBNR reserve reviews, profit-sharing program development, and enterprise risk management initiatives. Communicate with external auditors, regulators, and independent actuaries regarding company outlook and strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • FCAS, or near-FCAS making demonstrated progress toward Fellowship of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS)
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) actuarial work
  • experience in pricing, reserving, or predictive modeling
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation (WC) and commercial lines
  • Expert: Microsoft Excel
  • Advanced: SQL for data extraction and database manipulation
  • Intermediate / Advanced: Python, R, or SAS for predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and workflow automation
  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • sound critical judgment in evaluating risk options
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • ability to explain technical concepts and business insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field
  • Regular attendance
  • Must be able to attend strategic planning sessions, industry and community events requiring before/after hours and travel

Desired Qualifications

  • Growing knowledge of Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) and other statistical modeling tools
  • Exposure to presenting to or supporting presentations for state regulatory bodies (DOIs), advisory bureaus (NCCI/ISO), or independent auditors
  • Python, R, or SAS for predictive modeling, statistical analysis, and workflow automation (preferred)
