Job Summary
Actuary role focusing on COLI/BOLI pricing within Nationwide’s Institutional Life team. Lead and support new business pricing, price quotes, and peer review for COLI/BOLI opportunities while partnering with sales and business leaders to balance customer needs and business priorities. Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and cross-functional initiatives related to pricing, product implementation, and business execution. Responsibilities include data compilation and analysis, building and maintaining actuarial models and testing tools, pricing products, conducting risk analysis, establishing reserves under multiple accounting regimes, and delivering presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences. Requires an undergraduate actuarial degree, FSA designation, 5–7 years of actuarial experience, and strong core analytical and communication skills; ALFA experience and life insurance pricing background highly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in actuarial science or a related field
- FSA designation
- Typically five to seven years of actuarial experience
- Actuarial pricing experience in life insurance; COLI/BOLI experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with actuarial software and data analysis tools (ALFA, VBA/Excel, tableau)
- Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and potentially lead others
- Pricing and risk analysis capabilities
- Knowledge of statutory, GAAP, and tax reserves
