Job Summary
Analyze historical trends and design statistical models to assess financial, market, credit, and operational risks, ensuring provisions for adequate reassurance arrangements on high-retained premium businesses. Develop actuarial assumptions for reserving, recommend pricing strategies, and enhance rating plans using predictive modeling tools. Implement an overall risk management process, including budget preparation, reporting, and business continuity planning, while collaborating with internal teams on strategic initiatives and continuous improvement. Manage reinsurance activities by advising on retention limits, coordinating account reconciliations, and following up on loss recoveries. Provide coaching and leadership to team members, ensure compliance with legal and operational requirements, and drive operational improvements through process reviews.

- Ability to determine the likelihood of risks involving financial, market, credit and operational risks
- Ability to design statistical models
- Experience ensuring provisions of adequate reassurance arrangements
- Experience with high retained premium and low retained losses
- Experience with sound analysis, apportionment and placement of risks
- Ability to represent the department on high profile special projects or initiatives
- Ability to collaborate with other internal teams
- Ability to partner with team leads to develop strategies for continuous improvement
- Ability to manage departmental relationships, efficiencies and procedures
- Ability to keep abreast of trends and new initiatives
- Ability to make appropriate recommendations to Management
- Ability to design and implement an overall risk management process
- Ability to analyze the financial impact on the company when risks occur
- Ability to perform risk assessment by analyzing current risks and identifying potential risks
- Ability to perform risk evaluation by evaluating the company's previous handling of risks
- Ability to evaluate the company's previous handling of risks and compare potential risks with criteria set out by the company
- Ability to establish the level of risk the company is willing to take on
- Ability to prepare risk management and insurance budgets
- Ability to perform risk reporting tailored to the relevant audience
- Ability to prepare reports on the most significant risks to the business
- Ability to explain the external risk posed by corporate governance to stakeholders
- Ability to work with other departments to create business continuity plans
- Ability to create risk management awareness amongst staff
- Ability to analyze, interpret business context of go-to-market strategy
- Ability to propose responsive technical structure to address product, risk and profitability issues
- Ability to develop actuarial assumptions to be used in reserving or actuarial modelling
- Ability to conduct experience studies in support of assumptions
- Ability to recommend pricing strategies, valuation approach or risk management strategies
- Ability to enhance and make adjustment to rating plan using predictive modelling tools
- Ability to review policy language and impact to rating
- Ability to work as business partners to business unit leads
- Ability to deepen insights into market opportunities and customer buying behaviour
- Ability to assist in the actuarial elements of financial reports or other documents
- Ability to provide consultation and clarification on actuarial models and risk issues
- Ability to ensure the use of actuarial measures for competitive pricing of products
- Ability to review adequacy and competitiveness of premium rates on existing products
- Ability to prepare IBNR (Incurred but not reported) Claim Analysis
- Ability to manage the Cash Flow, Revenue and Balance Sheet Projections
- Ability to work with Reinsurance companies to ensure Adequate Capital Protection Strategies
- Ability to constantly monitor and analyse the company's risk position against market segments
- Ability to prepare reassurance advice on all new and renewed businesses
- Ability to coordinate and supervise activities of the unit
- Ability to advise on company's retention and treaty limit
- Ability to conduct reconciliation of accounts with re-assurers and brokers
- Ability to notify brokers of larger claims or claims that fall within the treaty arrangement
- Ability to recommend apportionment and placement of risks to treaty and local reassures
- Ability to raise credit/debit notes on co-insurance arrangements
- Ability to follow up recovery of losses exceeding the company's retention limit from re-assurers
- Ability to provide employees with coaching, feedback and developmental opportunities
- Ability to build effective teams
- Ability to ensure employees adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements
- Ability to provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members
- Ability to respond to and/or resolve escalated issues involving employees, customers and/or vendors
- Ability to drive operational improvements through continuous review of processes
- Ability to ensure operations are in line with best practice and regulatory requirements
