Job Summary
Actuarial Research Analyst responsibilities include conducting research and data analysis to support pricing, underwriting, claims, and product development initiatives. Analyzes internal and external data sources to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Prepares and maintains detailed schedules and reports for key metrics, including premiums, reserves, loss ratios, and policy benefits. Accurately documents and validates actuarial assumptions, rating factors, and methodologies used in financial and statistical analyses. Collaborates with actuaries, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights. Assists in the development and evaluation of rating plans, loss cost models, and performance metrics. Prepares clear and concise reports, visualizations, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
- Generally, a minimum of 3 years of experience
- Strong data analysis skills (e.g. Excel) and experience with programming and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Python, R, SQL)
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques and model validation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to inform decisions
- Familiarity with company operations, systems and actuarial methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and across departments
