Job Summary

Actuarial Analyst position focusing on reserving for Supplemental Accident & Health (Supp A&H) products (e.g., Critical Illness) with exposure to Employee Benefits offerings (LTD, Life). Responsibilities include owning reserve models, presenting drivers of results to the EB Chief Actuary, leading major reserve projects annually, developing LTD metrics, improving data and reserve processes, preparing reconciliations for auditors, and supporting LTD Settlement Claims with actuarial judgment. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and progression on Life actuarial exams (SOA path), plus strong Excel and programming skills (SQL/VBA/R/Python/SAS) and excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities. Role is hybrid in Hartford, CT.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Life Actuarial exam path to become a credentialed SOA actuary with at least 2 passed exams required
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Knowledge of SQL, VBA, R, Python, SAS or similar code languages a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail with strong time and project management skills
  • Driven, intellectually curious, proactive individual who can influence others and drive processes to conclusions
