Job Summary
Actuarial Associate in Munich Re’s Biometric Research department (Toronto hybrid) focused on experience studies and assumption construction across Canada and the United States. Contribute to mortality/morbidity/lapse experience studies for individual life, living benefits, and group insurance products; develop new business assumptions; support Pricing with client-focused experience studies for quotes and inforce transactions; participate in NA/global Biometric Research projects; collaborate with Pricing, Corporate Actuarial, Reinsurance Operations, Risk Management, and Integrated Analytics; provide technical peer reviews and contribute to process improvements. Requires ASA with progression toward FSA, 2+ years of actuarial experience, strong data analysis skills, proficiency in Excel, and familiarity with SQL, R, or Python; capable of clear communication and precise work in a hybrid Toronto setting, with a focus on North American markets.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, and/or Mathematics
- Completed ASA and progression towards FSA
- 2+ years actuarial experience, preferably the Individual Life and Health insurance/reinsurance industry
- Strong technical proficiency and data analysis capabilities
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients and/or colleagues
- Excellent communication skills demonstrated through clear verbal interactions and well-structured written documents
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
- Adaptability in fast-paced and dynamic environments
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with other Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of SQL, R, and/or Python is an asset
