Job Summary
Plan, direct, and implement activity therapy programs as a component of the patient's treatment plan by completing activity assessments through observation and interviews to identify needs, skills, interests, and limitations. Facilitate and lead activity sessions to improve patient mental and physical well-being, instructing individuals in sports, dance, music, art, and relaxation techniques. Develop treatment plans and modify interventions to help patients achieve goals and learn social skills needed for independence, while engaging them in therapeutic exercises, games, and community outings. Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude, prioritizing patient safety and resolving complaints when needs are not met.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field
- Three or more years' experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or currently in the process of obtaining national certification
- certified in the area of specialty (Art, Dance, Music, etc.)
- clinical professional licensure (LCPC, LPC, etc.) with certification in expressive therapy area
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification

- Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting
