Job Summary
Complete activity assessments through patient observation and interviews to inform treatment plans. Plan, organize, and implement therapeutic leisure skills, education, and awareness programs including sports, dance, music, and art. Facilitate sessions to improve mental and physical well-being while instructing patients in relaxation techniques and social skills. Engage patients in exercise, games, and community outings, modifying activities to meet specific group needs. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic attitude while prioritizing patient safety and resolving complaints. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, three years of healthcare experience, and CTRS or specialty certification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field
- Three or more years' experience in recreation in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of patient population served by the facility
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
- Currently in the process of obtaining national certification
- Certified in the area of specialty (Art, Dance, Music, etc.)
- CPR certification
- De-escalation certification
- Restraint certification

- Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting
