Job Summary
Conduct activity assessments through patient observation and interviews to gather needs, skills, interests, and limitations for treatment planning. Plan, direct, and implement therapeutic leisure programs including sports, dance, music, art, and relaxation techniques to improve patient mental and physical well-being. Facilitate activity sessions, instruct patients in specific techniques, and help them develop social skills for independence. Modify activities to suit specific group needs while maintaining patient safety and resolving complaints empathetically. Engage patients in exercise, games, and community outings to support their progress toward treatment goals. Full-time Tuesday through Saturday schedule with a pay range of $26.23 to $30.73 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field
- Three or more years' experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or currently in the process of obtaining national certification
- certified in the area of specialty (Art, Dance, Music, etc.)
- clinical professional licensure (LCPC, LPC, etc.) with certification in expressive therapy area
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification
