Job Summary
Organize and implement programs meeting residents' psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem. Lead one-on-one, small group, and large group activities according to the schedule, encouraging independent pursuits and motivating participation. Communicate changes in resident conditions or behavior patterns to the Harbor Care Director and remain with groups during all excursions. Demonstrate knowledge of residents' backgrounds, abilities, and cognitive capacities to support their engagement. Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community while coordinating multiple tasks under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma, bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- knowledge of aging and disability issues
- qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals
- training and knowledge in recreational activities
- training and knowledge of Alzheimer's and related dementias
- ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community
- consistent ability to coordinate multiple tasks
- positive attitude
- ability to work well under pressure
