Job Summary
Plan and carry out recreational programs that keep residents energized, engaged, and mentally stimulated. Approach assigned units to coordinate individual activities, report resident responses, and prepare information for care planning and documentation. Maintain departmental inventory, track attendance records, and develop contacts with community resources to support the activities program. Requires a valid New York driver's license, physical stamina for constant activity, and the ability to adapt programs to resident needs. Shifts vary between mornings and evenings with hours determined by the schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 18 yrs. age
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Valid New York Driver's License
- clean driving record
- Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families and visitors
- Ability to inspire and motivate others
- create a warm and accepting climate for residents
- adapt and modify activities to meet their needs
- Understanding of the rights and needs of residents
- Physical stamina for constant activity
- ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level
