Job Summary
Plan, organize, and facilitate a monthly activities calendar to promote residents' physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive well-being. Lead and participate in resident activities, outings, events, and special celebrations while assessing individual needs to develop meaningful programming. Coordinate volunteer programs, community involvement, and transportation logistics, and maintain activity documentation and participation records. Collaborate with nursing, caregiving, dietary, and administrative teams to assist with resident orientation and community life. Decorate common areas for holidays and seasonal events, building positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and community partners. Work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays for special events.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (if transporting residents or driving company vehicles)
- Ability to pass required caregiver background check and pre-employment screenings
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays for special events
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Activities Programming, Gerontology, Social Work, Education, Marketing, or related field
- Previous experience in assisted living, memory care, long-term care, healthcare, hospitality, recreation, or event planning
- Experience working with older adults, including residents with dementia and Alzheimer's disease
- Knowledge of person-centered care and dementia-friendly programming
- Experience coordinating volunteers, community partnerships, and special events
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, social media, and electronic documentation systems
- Creative and enthusiastic personality
- Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to motivate residents to participate in activities
- Ability to adapt activities for various physical and cognitive abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with residents, families, staff, and community members
- Ability to plan and manage an activities budget
