Job Summary

The Activity Coordinator role focuses on fostering community and social atmosphere at the Day Center for elderly participants. Key responsibilities include planning and leading group activities, assisting with participant needs such as personal care, and managing monthly activity calendars. Candidates should have a BA in a relevant field or an Activity Coordinator’s Certificate, along with a minimum of one year of experience working with elderly individuals, preferably those with dementia. First Aid and CPR certification is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Activity Coordinator’s Certificate or BA in recreation, psychology, gerontology or related field
  • One year of professional work or volunteer experience with frail elders with dementia and/or age related issues
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Interest and willingness to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment
  • Ability to lift, transfer, push/pull, maneuver, and reposition 35 lbs.
  • Ability to reach, bend and walk
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills preferred
  • Fluency in a second language helpful
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other related programs

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
