Activity Assistant - Full Time Days

Job Summary
Administer the monthly activity calendar and regularly elicit patient/resident input to plan and organize upbeat group and one-on-one interventions. Partake in activities appropriate for the department to support optimal functioning while maintaining dignity, and assist with simple nursing procedures and transporting residents between rooms. Administer Minimum Data Set (MDS) and EPIC documentation, display creativity and resourcefulness, and demonstrate leadership to motivate the team. Work autonomously with strong critical thinking skills to prioritize responsibilities and manage resources, handling strong-willed patients or behavioral issues. Maintain required certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS) and drive as a Category I or II driver where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required based on location
- Currently enrolled as a student in a healthcare related program preferred
- Possesses the ability to work with strong willed patients/residents and/or behavioral issues
- Maintains strong critical thinking skills and problem solving skills
- Prioritizes responsibilities while working autonomously
- Plans and oversees the utilization of resources and designs of work processes
- Possesses a valid driver's license
- Medically qualified to perform the essential driving functions of this position as per our Sanford Driving Policy
Desired Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Experience in social services or creative activities are preferred
- Experience in geriatrics preferred
- Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics
- Preferred current Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) certification or currently enrolled as a student in a healthcare related program preferred
