Job Summary
Provide one-on-one recreation therapy activities for pediatric patients; lead arts and crafts, games, and pet therapy; support development of play skills and social expression; prepare and maintain the activity room; complete documentation; assist in organizing events such as Halloween Party, Easter Egg Hunt or Christmas Party; ensure proper safety precautions; maintain equipment; establish relationships with staff and external groups; may perform other related duties. Requires a high school diploma and experience with children in recreation, healthcare, daycare, or school settings; strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and computer-literate skills; ability to lift 25 pounds and work 1:1 with children.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate with at least 2 references
- Course work in recreation, education, or related field is desirable
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in a recreation program, health care, day care, school setting or related field
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to assess and meaningfully interact with infants, children, youth and families
- Demonstrates effective leadership and able to take initiative
- Problem-solving, listening and communications skills
- Able to work independently after given direction
- Ability to lift 25 pounds comfortably
- Ability to incorporate recommendations from IDT into play activities for the child
- Ability to identify areas of need and provide individual activities for child
