Job Summary
The Activity Assistant supports the Activities Director in planning, organizing, and leading recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities for residents to enhance quality of life and well-being. Responsibilities include planning and implementing daily activity programs; leading group activities (games, arts and crafts, music, exercise classes, and special events); providing one-on-one engagement; safely escorting residents between activity areas; setting up/cleaning activity rooms; maintaining supplies and assisting with holiday/decorating; documenting attendance and participation; supporting residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities, including dementia or memory care needs; communicating with residents, families, and staff; and following facility policies and safety procedures. Requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, along with being compassionate, patient, and dependable. Flexible part-time hours including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience working with seniors, nursing home residents, or individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable
- Ability to work flexible part-time hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays
- Ability to assist residents with mobility and activity participation as needed
