Job Summary
Maintain resident and client safety while organizing group work, one-to-one exercises, crafts, music, outings, and parties. Prepare activity areas, manage supplies and equipment, and assist residents to and from programs. Drive residents to bus outings, shopping, or picnics when required, and provide tea, coffee, and meal assistance. Monitor, evaluate, and document progress within the recreation program, and participate in team meetings and resident councils. Complete monthly calendars and attend staff development opportunities. Provide orientation to new activity staff and volunteers, and run errands related to activities.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12
- completion of recognized recreational courses such as handicrafts
- two years' recent, related experience
- an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Class-4 vehicle license (unrestricted)
- Current BC Care Aide and Community Registration
- Responsive, outgoing attitude
- good interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to Teach
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to operate related equipment
- willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully
- provide an original copy of a Background Check screening
