Job Summary
Activity Aide in Family Supports supports adults in an Adult Day Program by implementing planned activities, contributing to service plans, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, assisting with ADLs, and promoting safety and engagement for clients and caregivers. Responsibilities include developing and revising client service plans, coordinating with the Recreational Therapist and Program Coordinator, leading social/recreational activities, facilitating group activities to enhance mobility, language, reminiscence and listening skills, ensuring safety, coordinating with volunteers, and adhering to VON policies and OHSA standards. Required qualifications include a health-care/community college diploma or certificate with gerontology emphasis, current First Aid/CPR and Food Handler certificates, Montessori GPA certification as asset, 1-2 years’ experience in Adult Day Services or with groups of clients, and a satisfactory Criminal Records Check; a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance are also required.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate from a Community College level program or equivalent in health care, social science or recreation with an emphasis on Gerontology
- Current First Aid and CPR and Food Handler’s certificates required
- Certification with GPA, Montessori an asset
- 1-2 years of recent experience in Adult Day Services or working with groups of clients is an asset
- Experience in working with adults, especially individuals (and their caregivers), with Alzheimer disease and other cognitive impairments and/or physical disabilities in a social setting a requirement
- Must have personal vehicle and possess both a current driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check (updated)
