Job Summary
Plan, develop, and run meaningful recreation and leisure pursuits that promote resident wellbeing, creativity, and community connection. Facilitate both planned and spontaneous opportunities to support skill maintenance, knowledge development, and personal relationships. Assist in developing daily activities in homes and the community, creating engaging environments that encourage meaningful participation. Observe, report, and document changes in resident abilities to update care plans as needed. Maintain communication with residents, families, volunteers, and community agencies while participating in program evaluation and quality improvement processes.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience working with seniors, preferably in a long-term care setting
- Graduate of a post-secondary diploma or degree program in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation or other related field from a community college or university
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a health care related field and demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in providing recreation and leisure services in a health care setting
Desired Qualifications
- Enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or other related field with the intent to successfully complete the program within three years of being hired
