Job Summary
Activity Therapist needed to join a multidisciplinary treatment team at Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland, MD. The role involves using recreational and social activities to support treatment objectives, foster skill-building and problem solving, and reinforce adaptive living skills. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, CPR/BLS certification, NCCAP certification preferred, and 2+ years of experience in art/recreational therapy, with corrections experience preferred. This is a full-time, day-shift position with competitive benefits in a state correctional setting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in the social sciences (psychology, social work or counseling or related field)
- NCCAP Certification preferred
- Specific training in Recreational Therapy
- Two or more years of experience providing comprehensive art/recreational therapy services
- Experience working in corrections preferred
- Must be appropriately and actively certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ BLS
- Ability to obtain a security clearance, to include drug screen and criminal background check
- Available shift: full time, days
