Job Summary
Plan an ongoing activity program to meet the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of residents in accordance with the service plan. Create a monthly calendar of social events, schedule Resident Council meetings, and record all notes for the Administrator. Supervise and protect residents during activities while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and policies. Coordinate the activities program with other facility services and recruit, train, and supervise volunteers when appropriate. Perform and record monthly resident weights and maintain care of supplies and equipment. Demonstrate effective problem resolution, composure in stressful situations, and the ability to handle difficult behaviors. Maintain a cheerful disposition, patience, and tact while acting as a role model in conduct and appearance.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Aptitude and some training in Arts and Crafts
- Ability to plan and organize recreational activities
- Sincere desire to work with the elderly
- Understanding of social, psychological and recreational needs of the elderly
- Ability to plan and organize activities geared to these needs
- Patience
- Tact
- Cheerful disposition
- Enthusiasm
- Ability to handle residents based on whatever maturity level that they are currently functioning on
