Activities Director (CNA)

Job Summary
Develop, organize, and implement a program of activities to meet the social, emotional, physical, and therapeutic needs of residents as identified on their care plans. Initiate and promote both internal and external activities while ensuring resident safety, and coordinate necessary assistance for participation. Solicit community involvement for facility events and maintain detailed records of programs, participation, and progress toward care goals. Develop a monthly calendar of events, train volunteers and students in recreational therapy techniques, and assist the Resident Council. Maintain all activity-related records required by regulations, including assessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Required Qualifications
- Active CNA license
- Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist
- Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals
- Two (2) years experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, in which one (1) year was full time in a resident activities program in a healthcare setting
- Prior completion of a state-approved training course
- One (1) to two (2) years of management/supervisory experience
- Skill at working with individuals who have cognitive, physical or sensory disabilities
- 2 years of experience in activity programming
- General knowledge of regulatory requirements for an activity program in a long-term care facility
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with a high level of quality and productivity
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with a high level of energy and enthusiasm
