Job Summary
Activities Assistant / Therapy Aide supports licensed Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists in a skilled nursing facility by assisting with rehabilitation services, preparing treatment areas, transporting residents, and performing administrative tasks. The role includes coordinating and hosting enrichment activities for residents during rehabilitation, delivering exceptional customer service, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure a smooth therapy environment. Responsibilities span resident transport and assistance with transfers, aiding therapists with exercises under supervision, maintaining equipment and treatment spaces, scheduling therapy appointments, and handling routine office duties. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and favors additional related coursework or CNA certification. Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-focused care are essential, along with adherence to safety and HIPAA guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Some college coursework or a certificate in a related field (e.g., CNA, medical assistant) is a plus
- Active CNA is preferred (current Nursing Assistance Certification)
- Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in a skilled nursing facility or rehabilitation environment, is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Basic understanding of rehabilitation principles and terminology
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Compassionate and patient demeanor with residents
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Physical ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents safely
