Activities Assistant

Job Summary
Enthusiastically run daily activities that engage residents, including exercise, games, arts, travel, lectures, and musical events. Develop new activities appealing to diverse resident interests and safely transport residents to and from these events. Provide social and emotional support while observing resident status regarding physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health to report changes to nursing staff. Assist in evacuation during emergencies, represent the facility at family and community events, and work cooperatively with other departments. Report to work as scheduled with dependability and punctuality.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination
- Be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people within the community
- Must pass the physical required by this facility
- Must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodations required by federal, state, and local law
- Report to work as scheduled and demonstrate dependability and punctuality
- Must enjoy working with seniors
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- LNA license or interest in getting an LNA license - preferred
- Experience working in a skilled nursing environment is a plus!
- Must enjoy music and crafts
- Must enjoy working with seniors
